New Lapland restaurants: Gallis and Bon Bistro Levi

Rovaniemi’s Gallis says diners who are not hotel guests are welcome, and Bon Bistro takes over Levinraitti 1 in Levi. What is confirmed and what is not.

One is already serving and wants its own townspeople at the table. The other is still a building site, and its tables can be booked from December.

Two Lapland restaurants were in the news on the same day, 23 September 2026, and they sit at opposite ends of the same story. One has been serving since October 2023 and now wants the people who live next door. The other is still a building site with a target date.

Gallis is not new — it is starting its fourth season

Gallis is at Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, beside the Glass Resort holiday village, and it began its fourth season in the week the story ran. Avecmedia corrected its own piece the next morning: the restaurant had been called new.

The line worth knowing before you book is the operator’s own. General Manager Kristina Thompson says in the press release that Gallis is not only a restaurant for hotel guests, that it is being built deliberately as a destination in its own right, and that they want people from Rovaniemi to find it. Head Chef Joona Ahonen describes the kitchen as northern ingredients cooked in a modern way, with the origin of the ingredient kept at the centre.

Avecmedia lists the new set menu as pike-perch cheek, whitefish crudo, ptarmigan and a honey parfait, and says the fish and the honey are Finnish. The set menu is 79 euros and à la carte main courses start at 28 euros. Those are the prices in that story; the restaurant’s own site publishes its autumn menus but no prices.

Bon Bistro takes over Levinraitti 1 in November

Bon Bistro is being built on the ground floor at Levinraitti 1 in the centre of Levi, in the premises of the former Levin Pub & À la Carte. Bon Group says the restaurant opens in November 2026 and that the aim is to be serving by the time of the Levi World Cup, if the building and finishing work go to plan. The exact opening day will be confirmed later.

Read that target precisely if you are travelling for the races. The Levi slalom World Cup weekend is 14 and 15 November 2026, the company’s own word is a target rather than a date, and the booking calendar opens on TableOnline with tables available from December onwards.

Behind the restaurant is Bon Levi Oy, owned jointly by Bon Group of Kuopio and North Pole Catering, with restaurateurs Arto Rastas and Teemu Korkalainen. Their Irish pub Oliver’s Corner Levi opened upstairs in the same building in September. The kitchen is described as French technique and quality ingredients, with northern flavours brought in by season and availability, and the concept line is French Soul. Arctic Spirit.

What to do with this if you are booking a table

Gallis is serving now, and by its operator’s own statement you do not have to be staying at Glass Resort. Ask the restaurant for the day’s opening hours — the press release does not give them.

Do not build a Levi trip around Bon Bistro’s opening. The company calls it a target, tables can be booked from December onwards, and the exact day is still open.

The same story names other kitchens in the same class: Aanaar in Inari, Kekäle and Utsu in Levi, Sky Kitchen & View in Rovaniemi, Kaltio in Saariselkä and Miilu in Ylläs.

Our own restaurant list carries the addresses, the Google ratings and the menu links, town by town.

What this article does not say: Bon Bistro’s opening hours, prices and dishes, because none of them have been published, and Gallis’s opening hours, which the press release does not give. The photograph above is our own, taken in Levi in July 2026. Bon Bistro’s press release image is an architect’s visualisation, not a photograph of the finished restaurant, so we do not show it.
